La Huerta Vieja is perfect for large family gatherings & multi-family holidays. We also accept reservations for small weddings & celebrations (less than 50 guests). There is though an additional charge for using Huerta Vieja as a wedding/celebration venue.

The main house and stables are all located around the swimming pool and on the same level as vehicle entry, whilst the Tower Room and the Storehouse are located on the top terrace up a flight of stairs from the pool area at first floor level above the main house.
MAIN HOUSE: The old barn attached to the house is now the main living room with beamed ceiling, old terracotta floors, large fire (for cosy winter evenings) and French doors opening onto a large south facing terrace commanding superb views of the country and the coast, with both a shaded and open sitting area set around a beautifully shaped (and prolific) Satsuma orange tree, and a plum tree with surrounding flowerbeds containing lavender, roses, cacti, and other mature plants including a stunning Chilean Choisya spiked tree.
a. Two bedrooms have twin beds and each has an en-suite shower room / WC. One bedroom is a large master with a super king bed, and an en-suite bath / shower / WC. The master bedroom has a set of lockable connecting doors which can be opened to one of the two twin bedrooms which gives parents the option to have direct access to young children, or the doors can be kept locked in the event of guests wishing to have completely separate accommodation.
b. The Master bedroom and the interconnected twin bed both have doors opening to the terraces and courtyard of the house.
c. A fourth en-suite (shower and WC) is located in the Tower Room of the main house and has its own separate entrance and a private balcony with stunning views to the coast and mountains. This room has a large double bed & benifits from AC.
The living area of the house has a fully fitted modern kitchen with Hi-Spec appliances and granite worktops opening to the courtyard to the front and to the dining room to the rear (seats 14) which in turn opens to a shaded sitting area at the rear of the main house. There is a separate laundry room equipped with 2 washing machines, tumble dryer & a spare fridge/freezer.
The main house is air-conditioned (hot & cold) throughout, with each bedroom having its own unit as well as the main living areas, making the house cool in summer, and warm in winter. For those who prefer not to use aircon, there are ceiling fans in 2 of the bedrooms & the kitchen. In combination with the design of the house, the house tends to remain cool in summer, and holds its heat in winter.
THE STABLES: is located about 10 meters from the main house, right beside the pool. It comprises of a living room with a modern kitchen & 2 ensuite bedrooms (1 with a bath & the other with a walk-in shower) - 1 bedroom has a double bed & the other 2 x single beds. The stables is fully air conditioned (with heating in the winter months) and has a 32" Sony flatscreen TV with surround sound system, SKY (free to view) & a DVD player. Outside the stables is a large shaded terrace with a dining area & comfortable seating - a perfect spot for a sundowner with friends & family.
THE STOREHOUSE: in one level up from the pool area, and it contains an air conditioned large twin bedded en-suite (shower / WC) bedroom with amazing views, and access to a secure (fenced) garden area of its own ... this is shared with the Tower Room, and then via stairs down to the main house and pool.
There is a radio linked WiFi network covering the entire property, and parking for 4-5 vehicles with entry to the property via electric security gates. The entire property is fenced / walled, and is not overlooked so it is perfect for those requiring peace, privacy and security while still offering a real rustic charm with high levels of comfort and all modern conveniences !
Siesta in the shade or sunbathe by the pool
The centerpiece of La Huerta Vieja is the large heart shaped swimming pool (heating optional) with its own palm tree topped island! The main house and stables are all located around the swimming pool making it easy to keep an eye on children whilst splashing around in the pool. The pool has easy access and large shallow end making it perfect for young children & none swimmers. If the pool feels too energetic, laze away an hour in the Jacuzzi whilst admiring the view with a glass of cava in hand.
Dine Al Fresco! .... facing the pool, there is a large beamed and covered external dining room with a built-in Andalucian style barbecue and seating for 14 around a large table. There is easy access to the kitchens in both the main house and the stables.
Sun loungers are placed around the pool area, on the games terrace and also on the top terrace creating areas of privacy. The bottom terrace is an orchard filled with a range of avocado and other fruit trees which one again offer stunning views to the south and west across the Andalucian countryside towards the Mediterranean sea & Africa beyond. The middle terrace has a large lawned area suitable for kicking round a football ... this is just down a flight of steps from the main pool ara.
Ideally situated to cater for all guests interests
There is something for everyone in this area - the picturesque Andalucian village of Mijas has many charming shops and restaurants, perfect for that early evening stroll. Inland can be found the 'Real Spain' of breathtaking mountain views and many 'Ventas' - the typical Spanish restaurant. One of our favourites, Venta Los Morenos, is just 15 minutes by car on the Alhaurin El Grande road. It's great for Sunday lunch - very cheap, very Spanish, very noisy - why not give it a try! Lively Fuengirola is just 10 minutes away (8 km) and boasts many fine restaurants, water sports, beaches, a marina and an aquapark. Marbella with its marina and stylish shops is 20 minutes by car.
La Huerta Vieja is also well situated for those seeking a cultural holiday ... the drive to the historic town of Ronda is one not to be missed, and the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada is an interesting 2 hour drive. Cordoba and Sevilla are also both easily accessible with a hire car or by coach.
