La Casa De La Iglesia

Something Quite Special!

La Casa De La Iglesia - Something Quite Special!

"La Casa de la Iglesia” (Church House) stands in the very heart of Barrio Santa Ana, the most authentic and traditional part of Mijas Pueblo, in the delightful square “Plaza de los Siete Caños” (Seven Spouts Square) which is adjacent to “La Ermita de Nuestra Señora” (Our Lady’s Hermitage), a beautiful little church built in the XVIII century.

”El Casco Histórico”, or old part of town, is a maze of narrow streets that retain the Moorish feel. The streets are so narrow that they are more suitable for donkeys than for cars. The centre of the “casco histórico” is the Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square) which leads to the ancient defensive walls once built by the Moors.

It only takes a few minutes to walk to the historic centre of Mijas Village with all its amenities ... imagine, in the morning taking a short stroll to the bakery for fresh bread, pick up your daily newspaper, and a few minutes later you find yourself having breakfast on the patio of La Casa de la Iglesia!

About Mijas

The enchanting village of Mijas is situated in the lowlands of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range and is surrounded by pine forest. The village nestles in the mountainside at 428 meters above sea level and has a population of 7,500. The nearest main town is the Spanish sea-side resort Fuengirola (8km), Malaga airport is 25 mins by car. Mijas has managed to retain much of its "white village" charm, with cobbled, narrow winding streets, dazzling whitewashed walls and breathtaking views.

For more detailed information on Mijas & the surrounding area see our "About Mijas" page.

Bar Restaurant Alorcan - one of the best tapas bars in MijasZoom

The restaurant/bar Alarcon is one of the best tapas bars in Mijas Pueblo & is located less than 100 meters from Casa Iglesia ... a popular haunt with many of the locals.

Venture just a little way inland to uncover the delights of the 'Real Spain' with breathtaking mountain views, unspoilt white villages nestled in rolling mountains and many 'Ventas' - the typical Spanish restaurant. One of my favourites is Venta Morenos, just 10 minutes by car on the Coin road. It's great for Sunday lunch - very cheap, very Spanish, very noisy - why not give it a try! ... see my restaurant guide.

Lively Fuengirola is just 10 minutes away (8 km) and boasts many fine restaurants, water sports, beaches, a marina and an aquapark. Marbella with its marina and stylish shops is 20 minutes by car.

La Casa de la Iglesia is also well situated for those seeking a cultural holiday ... the drive to the historic town of Ronda is one not to be missed, and the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada is an interesting 2 hour drive. Cordoba and Sevilla are also both easily accessible with a hire car or by coach.

Car hire is optional
